Description
A Sabaean marble sculpture of a kneeling male, perhaps a dwarf, South Arabia, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, in Egyptian style wearing striated wig, his hand on his chest above a stele which rests against his belly. The stele is nicely inscribed with text around a boatman at top, 5 more registers containing text below. H: 12 ¼ in (31 cm). Intact with minor chipping to right hand and around the edges of the base, nice mineral deposits throughout. Ex New York City private collection.
