Description

A pair of North Beach hippy-style suits, early 1970s. labelled 'Handcrafted for NBL in Pitiquito, Mexico' and signed ‘painted by Kenn Fung’, one of soft ivory leather painted with humming birds and roses, the other of blue suede, both with tan thong top-stitched seams, flared trousers, chest 86cm, 34in, waist 69-71cm, 27-28in (4)

Condition

Cream suit – trousers are good condition, look little if ever worn, couple of miniscule droplet marks to front closure area, upper leg area – barely noticeable. Inside they’re clean and good. Faint droplet stain to front hem of right leg, leather is supple and good. Jacket is similarly good, fresh condition, slight yellowing to collar fronts, has slightly yellowed overall with age generally – the areas which have not been exposed to light are much whiter in appearance. Blue suit – trousers have a few blue ink marks which may have been size indicators for the buttonholes when it was originally made, they are not immediately noticeable. Jacket – rear of collar has very slight fading and light soiling over back panels, small mark at left underarm and spots on the front collar, overall good condition, supple and soft suede
