Description
An embroidered silk shawl or sari panel, Indian, early 19th century. the fuschia silk central field sprigged with yellow and white flower-heads, deep end borders worked with floss silk embroidered foliate botehs, large rectangular form, 123 by 550cm; together with an embroidered lawn shawl, Indian, circa 1800, with four borders worked in silver strip with botehs to the corners; a silver strip embroidered stole similar; and a blue velvet panel c.1880 embroidered with floral sprays, birds and butterflies in raised gilt purl wire, seed pearls, 89 by 55cm (4)
Condition
Two bleach marks in silk in central field towards one end and a repaired split here also. Other end - the plain edge is worn and split and there is an approx 2.5cm split within the decorated border end. Some of the embroidery has rubbed but overall is good and the colours are good
