The Vikings (1958) Ax Prop - No film has ever captured the true action and drama of the Vikings better than the film of the same name, "The Vikings" (1958) directed by the legendary Richard Fleischer. No one can forget the images of the Viking ships, of the landscapes, of the battles, and of course that driving brilliant score of Mario Nascimbene which takes us all into the bowels of the mighty ships rowing in unison! Star Kirk Douglas had just come off "Paths of Glory", and was about to embark on "Spartacus" (also with his "Spartacus" co-star Tony Curtis as well as Curtis' wife Janet Leigh) when he made this classic motion picture. This is an Ax used in the production. Props and Costumes from this big screen, big budget grand adventure are quite rare. The Ax is In excellent condition considering its age. There is a slight tear in the wrap-around leather around the wood handle. (Approx 32" high).
