Description
Pair of Louis XVI-Style Giltwood Fauteuils, third quarter 19th century, each with a padded slightly domed back within a molded frame, joined by padded arms to the cushioned seat, raised on fluted tapering circular legs ending in toupie feet, h. 37-1/2".
Condition
In overall good condition. The surface exhibits a number of losses to the gilt, revealing the underlying white gesso. They exhibit normal shrinkage, mars and wear. Upholstery covers are in very good to excellent condition. Both chairs exhibit sag to the webbing beneath the seat. On both chairs, the webbing appears to be fully attached beneath dust covers. One of the chair bottoms seems fairly tight at the webbing, the other exhibits more sag, and the springs are looser at the webbing. Tight. No apparent breaks to legs.
