American Rococo Revival Rosewood Secretary Bookcase, third quarter 19th century, bearing the stenciled label of Thomas Brooks, Brooklyn, New York, on the back and between the sections, the upper section with a cabochon foliate- and scroll-carved crest over a shelf with mirrored back and above a pair of mirrored doors, the base with a slant lid opening to a fitted interior with line-strung drawers, h. 74-1/2", w. 37", d. 20".

In very good to excellent restored condition. Nicely polished surface with a few scattered veneer repairs of very high quality. There is a re-glued break to the astragal separating the two doors. The beveled mirrors appear to be replaced or re-silvered. They are now backed with cloth. Tooled leather interior writing surface is a replacement in very good condition. Left front leg is loose.
