[ART] Bruce Nauman (1941-) American artist and filmmaker. Easily one of this countries most important living artists. Confronted with "What to do?" in his studio soon after graduating, Nauman had the simple but profound realization that "If I was an artist and I was in the studio, then whatever I was doing in the studio must be art. At this point art became more of an activity and less of a product." Offered here is a work from SMS called "Footsteps" . A sound piece in which a strip of recorded magnetic tape is wound around a folded op-art card with instructions for playing the tape as a perpetual sound loop "for as loud and as long as you can stand it".
