This lot comprises an original wooden case with twelve bottles of 1982 vintage Château Clos Fourtet from the Saint-Émilion appellation in Bordeaux.
Saint Émilion is next to Pomerol one of the best-known appellations on the right river bank of the Gironde. Merlot is the predominant grape variety here. As in Graves, Saint Émilion has its own classification for the wines produced there, updated approximately every ten years; the last time being in 2012.
1982 was a very special vintage in Bordeaux. It is one of those truly great vintages, like 1945 and 1961, which will be talked about for decades to come. American wine critic Robert Parker made a name for himself when he described this vintage as outstanding, contradicting the opinion of many other wine critics. Time proved him right and sealed his reputation as the most influential wine critic in the world.
The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The original wooden case, labels and capsules are in perfect condition.
