Roman Empire, central Europe, Ca 2nd to 3rd centuries CE. Another wonderful sculpture! Marble end panel from a sarcophagus containing two borders, inside of which is a single image of a youth fishing, wearing just a wrap around his waist and a smooth cap, he holds a fishing pole, line dropping into water, large fish on the line; other hand holds a small basket. Another amazing example! 19"H x 7-1/4" W.
