Item Details
Description
Rome, Severan Period, ca. early mid 3rd century CE. Realistically rendered marble portrait of a young man. Once part of a wall shrine ( as shown by the work not being finished on the reverse area below his neck), this fine work depicts a young aristocrat, with closely cropped hair, well-trimmed beard and long aquiline nose - typical of the works done in the 3rd century. A particularly handsome example, he measures 14"H, not including his custom marble base. Height with base is 20".
