Italian Majolica Inkwell, in shape of an ancient sarcophagus, the lid with a laying naked Roman lady on top, dressed with a painted blue cloth and a necklace, laying on pillows and holding a portrait in her hand; the bottom in rectangular form with a painted scene of warriors and ornamental decorations; on the reverse a column as holder for the feather; inside a sand spreader and a ink basin; the sides painted with blue grotesque masks. Italian 18th/19th Century. Chips and cracks, border and corner rubbings.
