Description

Pierre Phillipe Thomire (1741-1843)-manner, Very large Empire Style bronze centrepiece, cast and partly hand finished, on a rectangular plinth on four feet, two coresponding bases with very rich bronze decorations, ending in two balls on akhathus leaves, two winged female angels standing on them with one foot only, angels face to face with hinged wings and outstretched arms holding an openwork basket decorated with flowers and leaves - partly ebonised and gilded; in the manner of the French sculptor and bronze manufactor Pierre Phillipe Thomire (1741-1843) and possibly after a design by the artist himself. Signs of age.
