Description
[George E. Pickett]. Lock of General George E. Pickett's Hair. Measuring approximately 4.5" in length, this substantial lock of light brown hair came from the head of Confederate General George E. Pickett. The lock is held in a 4.5" x 3.5" envelope with provenance in the form of a pencil notation on the front: "Gen. G.E. Pickett's hair. Part of a lock given to me (I.C.P.) by Gen. P. Cousin - [illegible] Symington." The initials "I.C.P." likely refers to Ida Christiancy Pickett, who was married to Gen. Pickett's son, George E. Pickett Jr. A fantastic piece of Civil War history.
