The present seating group was designed by the French designer Olivier Mourgue and has been manufactured by Airborne International. The fivepart ensemble is composed of a bench, a chair and two armchairs. The spring steel corpuses are accentuated by rivet heads. The upholstery is made of black artificial leather which is stitched in squares and filled with foam. The seats are belted with black straps from behind.



The seating group is in good condition considering its age. The chromed steel surfaces are affected by light flash rust. The black straps are slightly to severely torn. The artificial leather surfaces are a bit rubbed along the edges and minimally torn in parts. The chairs as well as the bench measure 67 cm in height and the widths measure vary 60 and 76.6 cm.

Olivier Mourgue (b. 1939)

Olivier Mourgue was born in Paris in 1939. He studied interior design at the École Boulle as well as at the École Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Since 1963, he works for the French companyAirborne International. In 1965, he experienced his international breakthrough with his design of the so called ’Djinn Chair’, presented in the film ‘Space Odysse’ worldwide. Besides, Mourgue was commissioned by clients such as Bayer AG Deutschland and Renault. In 1976, Mourgue moved to Brittany, where he has become active as a professor at the Art Academy in Brest.
