Sculpture in Egyptianesque style with geometrical stepped base
This sculpture shows the figure of a pheasant standing on an art deco pedestal made of black marble and yellow onyx. The distinctive base is assembled stepwise by the use of geometric elements and is characterized by the contrast of black and yellow which was quite popular during the Art Deco. The pheasant sculpture is cast of white metal with a black patina. The plumage is represented by gold staffage and drawings recessed from the black patina. The influence of Egypt enthusiasm, which arose after the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, becomes clearly visible here and is reminiscent of a Pharaoh.
The sculpture is in good condition with few signs of age and wear such as slight nicks on the base. The seam of one leg is open. The sculpture is 43 cm high and 50 cm long. (afa / cru)
