This extravagant table equipment from the series ‘Posateria Varonese’, was designed by the Spanish sculptor Miguel Ortiz Berrocal. The set consists of 54 pieces silver-plated cutlery and 16 silver-plated cups. Thereto belong two sets of cutlery with each 21 pieces, including finger ring and two ashtrays. Of the 16 cups are 8 cups for water (18.9 cm height), and 8 cups for wine (17.9 cm height). Further, there are two sets of serving cutlery with each 5 pieces and finger ring. The knife blades are of stainless steel and they bare the printed emblem of the designer. The single cutlery pieces can be inserted into the case like a puzzle, according to Berrocal’s leading artistic idea. The set comes with a sample of the original brochure and two advertising posters.



The silver-plated cutlery and cups by Berrocal from the series ‘Posateria Varonese’, are in good condition with usual traces of wear. The outside of the caskets is minimally damaged. The height of the water cups is 18.9 cm, and the height of the wine cups is 17.9 cm.



Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1933-2006)

Miguel Ortiz Berrocal studied at the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and at the Escuela de Artes Graficas. During evening lessons at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios the great sculptor Ángel Ferrant became his master. Berrocal additionally signed in into the faculty of exact sciences to study architecture and it was there, where he discovered his interest in analytical geometry. The artist celebrated his debut as a painter, bringing about the participation in the 17th Venice Biennale. Study trips to Rome and Paris have taken a great influence on his artistry. A large quantity of international single exhibitions are tribute to his work. (tm)
