Here the design relies on salient diagonal, leafy fronds in blue, green, and gold that create a latent effect of open diamond medallions, interspersed with large stylized rosettes and smaller flowers. The beauty of the palette is underscored against the dramatic blue-black ground. The more finely drawn rosette and vinescroll border provides the perfect contrast in color and scale to the sweeping grandeur of the field.
