Ein Yisrael: This is "Ein Yaakov", but due to fear of censorship, its name was changed over the years. This is the first edition of "Kutnot Ohr" which includes many commentaries. Amsterdam, [1684].
[4], 73, 118, [1], 192 leaves. 35 cm. Owner signatures.
At the beginning of the book there are approbations from rabbis of the "Va'ad Araba Ha'aratzot" including Rabbi Yissacher Ber, son of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel of Krakow. In addition to a lengthy approbation by Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Frankel, grandson of Rabbi Shaul Wohl, and of Rabbi Pinchas Horowitz, and from the family of Rabbi Moshe Isserless – the Rama. Not listed by the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book, though it does list a smaller edition from that year.
Antiquated leather binding, restored. Learning marks and usage stains on the book. Reinforced margins on solitary leaves. Entirely complete. Fine condition.
