Zera Baireich Shlish. Commentary on the Torah by Rabbi Berachya Beirach. [1717]. Only edition. Signed by Rabbi Yaakov Shemesh, a rebbe of the Chatam Sofer.
[1], 37 leaves. 29 cm. Missing the last leaf.
The end of the book was never printed. The section on Genesis was printed and then the author was imprisoned because he wasn't authorized to live in the city, "and he barely escaped with his life". Refer to A. Yaari, Mechkarei Sefer p. 445-449. A number of approbations were printed on the title page. This copy bears the signature of Rabbi Yaakov Shemesh, a prominent Frankfurt rabbi prior to the term of the Ba'al Hafla'a. He was a rebbe of the Chatam Sofer, who called him 'Mori V'Rabbi'.
New cardboard binding. Aging stains. Worming holes. Moderate-fine condition.
