Large woolen tallit. Eastern Europe, 18th century.
180*160 cm. Tallit made of yarn of different thicknesses woven by hand. Black woolen yarn is woven into the tallit to give it the traditional black stripes. Comfortable fabric lining is attached to the top of the tallit that the worshiper uses to cover his head. The tzitziot hung at the four corners are missing. Tallitot from these earlier periods are rare due to their constant use and subsequent wear. From the wool in several places the wool has unraveled leaving gaps in the weave. Tears. Fair-not good condition.
