Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche culture, Phase IV, ca. 400 - 600 CE. The Mochica are highly regarded for their ceramic art, in particular their figural stirrup vessels painted in bichrome or polychrome finishes representing humans engaged in various activities or portrait heads of individuals of high stature such as this example. This warrior is bedecked for battle, with his magnificent jaguar helmet, boldly decorated and large earspools, face paint, and nosering - not to mention those long eyelashes to distract the enemy! ~11-1/2"H x 7"D x 6-1/2"W
