Pre-Columbian, Mayan, Honduras/El Salvador, ca. 550-950 CE. Grand scale, round-bottomed polychrome olla created by Mayan culture with handbuilt handles and richly painted iconographic program that includes a pair of running foxes, one painted beneath each handle, an ornate band of stylistic glyphs adorning the shoulder, and most magnificently the front and backsides of a frog on opposite sides of the olla, complete with high relief head and tail! 7-3/4"H x 9-1/4"D
