LOUIS ICART (FRENCH, 1888-1950) HIDING PLACE. Colored etching. Bearing a windmill chop mark along the lower left margin. Pencil signed along lower right margin. Unframed Sheet: 23.5" x 20"
Condition
This piece has a significant amount of grime build up to the surface. This piece has adhesive residue and staining to the surface of the margins from when a mat was glued down, and a few areas of paper residue still adhered to the surface. There are also a few area of .25" - 2" diameter discoloration spots in the margins. This piece has a windmill water mark near the bottom of the brine on the plate impression. This sheet has a significant amount of pen tip sized foxing scattering the margins. This sheet has two strips of .5" thick plastic tape on the top and bottom edge of the from of the sheet. The back has an approximately 1" x 4" section of paper surface loss from where paper tape has been ripped off the surface, and there are a few .5" diameter sections of paper tape remaining.
