Very decorative large pendulum clock, which features a grander design than similar clocks of this type

This magnificent pendulum clock has a brass movement with a half-hour striking mechanism on a bell by AD Mougin, a famous Parisian watchmaker. It is marked ‘AD Mougin / Deux Médailles’. The power reserve is eight days. The cream-colored dial features black steel hands. The ornate, blackened and partly gold painted metal clock case with glazed bezel is adorned with garlands. It stands on an onyx base with volute feet. The high metal cast sculpture ‘La Source’ (The Source) by Émile Bruchon rises on a naturalistic plinth from the round onyx top of the clock case. The sculpture depicts a young woman with rose basket and a winged putto flanking a rocky pedestal with water pouring down from an amphora. A small brass plaque with the inscription ‘LA SOURCE / par Bruchon’ is attached to the front of the sculpture base and the sculpture is signed on the front ‘Bruchon’. A wind-up key is enclosed.



The clock is in good condition. The movement and striking mechanism are fully functional. Long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. The pendulum is missing, but can easily be replaced. The total height is 73 cm.
