Silver, enamel, guilloche and punched decor, gilt interior
(Austria-) Hungary, circa 1900-1930
Box 1: lid and base with blue enameled sun decoration and golden border, hinged lid with thumb rest in relief
Hallmarked with 900 fineness, crown in a circle and square, maker's mark LR in oval and number 130 to the bottom rim
Two times Hungarian import mark 2A and crescent in rectangle to the edge of the lid
Dimensions: 83 x 48 x 11 mm; weight: circa 110 grams
Box 2: Wall and bottom with white enamel and waved guilloche decor, multi-colored decor on the cover, bulged wall to the sides, plain wall on short sides, hinged lid with spring; inside engraved with Hungarian dedication
Hallmarked with ‘STERLING’, 935, Vienna hallmark hoopoe W1 from 1922, maker’s mark LW in rectangle and number 761 to the inside of the lid and the bottom
Hungarian import mark 1901-1921 and P in circle to the side of the lid

The boxes in good to very good condition
Three high quality snuff boxes with very beautiful decors

The three silver snuff boxes from Austria-Hungary are characterized by elegant, rectangular shapes and are therefore particularly suitable for the stylish lady. The various guilloche and enamel decorations are very appealing and bear witness to an excellent craftsmanship. The insides of the snuff-boxes are gilt. One box bears an engraved Hungarian dedication to the inside: ‘Drága apukának születésnapjára Zolikától 1926.V.30.’ [Happy Birthday to My Beloved Father].


The boxes are in good to very good condition, showing light wear. One box shows some losses to the sides. The pieces are hallmarked as follows:

Box 1: 900 fineness, crown in a circle and square, maker's mark LR in oval and number 130 to the bottom rim; two times Hungarian import mark 2A and crescent in rectangle to the edge of the lid.

Box 2: ‘STERLING’, 935, Vienna hallmark hoopoe W1 from 1922, maker’s mark LW in rectangle and number 761 to the inside of the lid and the bottom; Hungarian import mark 1901-1921 and P in circle to the side of the lid.

Box 3: Number 131 and Diana head A2 1872-1922 (900 silver) in hexagon, Vienna, maker's mark A.K. (Alois Kubacek, Vienna VII). The dimensions are 83 x 48 x 11 mm, 85 x 55 x 12 mm and 86 x 59 x 11 mm. The weights are approximately 110, 120 and 161 grams.
