Extremely rare, unusual and well-preserved powder horn with very highly detailed engraving, a special collectors Item!

This antique powder horn from the period around 1600 presents a rich decorative engraving, displaying Ovid’s music contest between Pan and Apollo. The back is adorned with decorative scrollwork, grotesque masks and goats, and the ends and edges are embellished with cord motifs, rhombs, acanthus friezes and others elements. The powder horn boasts the original cramps for the carrying strap and tassels. One tassel from a later period still exists.

The powder horn is in good condition considering its age and shows some light wear. The dimensions are approximately 10 x 25 x 6 cm.
