First recorded in The Royal Collection c.1810.Pen and brown ink. Recorded in the collection of George III (1738-1820). The scene, set in landscape, dates from the time Raphael spent in Florence from 1504 to 1508, where he executed a number of paintings of the Virgin and Child. Previously linked to the Madonna Canigiani in Munich, the finished work differs sufficiently to suggest that this drawing may have been conceived with another project in mind.

First recorded in The Royal Collection inventory of c.1810.Red chalk. Recorded in the collection of George III. A study of three poses from a single model for the Three Graces in the fresco 'The Wedding of Cupid and Psyche'. One of two fictive 'tapestries' frescoed by Raphael's assistants on the vault of the garden loggia of Agostino Chigi's Villa in Rome, know as the Villa Farnesina. The Graces are seen here pouring a libation over the married couple. Although Raphael played no part in the execution of the frescoes, he had a close hand in the design. The draughtsmanship of this study leaves little doubt that it is the work of the artist himself.
