These candlesticks were made by Cartier in the second half of the 20th century. Each holds one screw-in candle. Each has a striped round tapering form with a stepped round base. The cups are stepped with slightly flaring lips. The candlesticks are marked, ‘STERLING\WEIGHTED’, ‘CARTIER’, and pattern numbered, ‘745’.
The candlesticks are in good condition with minor traces of age and wear visible. Both candlesticks have minor surface abrasions. Each is 10" x 3.75" (height x diameter). The pair has a combined weight of 28.75 ozt.
Cartier (1847 - Present)
French jeweler and watch maker, Cartier was founded in Paris in 1847. By 1904, Cartier gained international celebrity with the famous ‘Santos de Cartier’. Later, Cartier had another milestone with the introduction of the Tank watch, inspired by British World War I tanks.
