4 in. diam. (at rim) silver candlesticks with screw-on candle cups (tarnishing throughout, screw threads in good working condition). This type of candlestick
has been found among Civil War soldiers' personal effects, with a pair of similarly styled candlesticks illustrated in the 1864 Schuyler, Hartley and Graham catalog of military goods. See Lot 165 for an original Joshua Chamberlain letter to his wife Fanny requesting that she send him a set of collapsible candlesticks.
