A Calendar, pictorial presentation leaf, 4 colour plates of the seasons and black & white illustrations by Rex Whistler, this copy with presentation leaf completed to "Miss Edith Olivier" from "Rex Whistler October 24th 1929" (publication day), also inscribed "For darling Edith with love from Rex" in blue ink above forget-me-nots and two hearts pierced by an arrow in blue, green and pink watercolour on front free endpaper, errata slip, free endpapers browned, original cloth-backed patterned-paper boards of flowerpots, watering cans and inkwells designed by Whistler, spotted and browned, spine faded, pictorial dust-jacket also by Whistler, a little rubbed and soiled, spine browned and frayed at ends, [Whistler & Fuller 419], 8vo, Cobden-Sanderson, 1929. Used by Edith, day by day, to record the books she read throughout the year, displaying a wide variety of reading matter including Keats, Bridges, Shakespeare, Waugh, Frankenstein , Pope, Byron, Villette , Sassoon, Thomas Aquinas, Lady Chatterley's Lover , Plato, Marie Corelli and Edith Sitwell.
