18TH C INN SIGN - Painted Oak & Pine Roadside Tavern Sign for the "J. Read Inn", circa 1790, having a coachman offering a toast on one side and a tea cup on the other, with turned spindle sides. Wood peg construction, original surface. Found in Connecticut. Possibly from the John Reed Inn in the Five Mile River area of Darien, CT. 48" x 35". Nicely weathered, one streak of later green paint. From a private Connecticut collection.
