Description
GIDEON BRADBURY (ME, 1833-1904) - "Mount Kearsarge", oil on canvas, unsigned, from an 1887 trip, with typewritten note on back that reads: "Oct 12, 1887 - Went down river below Union in a canoe ... went up the mouth of Stackpole's Brook. Called at the place once owned by Moses Woodson. A grape vine grows across the cellar, a partridge flew out. Gathered walnuts on the opposite side of the river. Got home at 4 o'k. Left canoe at point - water so low. Started at 8 o'k. Saw no man". In gold painted Victorian gesso frame, OS: 22" x 30", SS; 15 3/4" x 23 3/4". Fine condition.
