with 2in. single-draw lacquered-brass telescope, the 28½in. tube with rack and pinion focusing, signed on the eyepiece as per title and mounted on folding tripod stand, within original fitted case with accessories and period illustration and instructions pasted inside lid -- 30¾in. (78cm.) diameter
James Long worked between 1781-1805 from the Royal Exchange and retired 1811.
++Optically good; in fine original condition with much original lacquer and apparently complete components; case complete but bottom board split in two places.
