1739-Dated Colonial Period, Eighth Edition; FIRST American Edition, Hardcover Book titled, “A Guide to Prayer: or, a Free and Rational Account of the Gift, Grace and Spirit of Prayer; with Plain Directions how every Christian may attain them,” Boston: Printed by J. Draper for D. Henchman, 1739, Fine.
This rare book has its original leather boards, with rebacked and a later leather spine with stamoed compartments, light wear to covers. Interior is near complete, missing about 90% of title page, but publishing information, author and year still present; being pinned to first page of preface. End papers missing, some pen marks inside front cover with a few signatures, the preface first leaf also has signature, while the rest of pages are unmarked with just light spoiling and moderate wear.

Very Rare, as we cannot seem to locate any other printings from 1739 Boston. Pagination collated as complete, minus partial to nearly all of title page; [2] - (this is title page, which is mostly missing), X (present), 228 (present), [4] pages (present)). A helpful and practical guide to prayer, which Watts describes as 'conversation with God above while we are here below.' A very rare opportunity to own this amazingly early American Imprint, printed in the New England Colony of Massachusetts, fully 37 years before the Americans declared their Independence from Britain!
