1887-Dated, Original Etching titled, “The Half Dome View From Moran Point” (Yosemite composition), by Thomas Moran, Framed, Choice Extremely Fine.
This scarce, original Etching is Signed Within the Plate at lower left, "Moran, 1887." It measures 11.75” x 8.25” (by sight), beautifully executed and well printed upon period wove paper. Nicely matted and wooden framed in an antique style to an overall size of 23” x 19”. Catalogue reference, Klackner 60. This is one of Thomas Moran's wonderful Yosemite compositions, from the 1888 edition published for John Muir's "Picturesque California." It has its original full margins (by sight), some trivial age-tone specks and a modest water stain within the outer margin (well outside and not affecting the etched image). Signed within the plate itself (not by hand), "Moran, 1887." Impressive and ready for immediate display.
