2-piece black silk velvet voided to satin, boned back-lacing bodice cut along velvet floral and inset at shoulder, front and back with cream Alencon lace over chiffon with spangles, short sleeve having lace ruffle, matching skirt with three front lace gores over pleated chiffon and long, square train, silk lining. Woven petersham label and ink script tape 54748. Exhibited at the MET Costume Institute "DANCE" exhibit and gala ball 1986-1987. Harriet Lane Johnston family provenance and MET program included. B-38, W-26, skirt L-44 with 40 inch train. (Minor conservation prior to MET exhibition: splits to bodice lining stabilized, snaps added, waistband and pleated chiffon replaced, two tears to chiffon, minor breaks to lace) very good.
