Description
Serial No. 4454. All matching, except wedge. This is a fine example of one of the 3,500 round cartridge conversion guns made from left over 1849 parts and newly made parts to construct the .38 short rim fire solid barrel type revolver. Made from 1873-1880, it is standard in all respects. It remains in superb condition having spent most of its life in the original display case. Over half of the original Colt high polish factory blue remains on the barrel. The cylinder is mostly bright with almost all of the original cylinder scene present. The original varnished grips are near perfect. The brass is also a nice aged mellow tone. As to the frame, it retains at least 90% of the original factory case colors, some of which is still quite bright. Operation is flawless and the bore is strong as new albeit a bit frosty. It is accompanied by an original sealed box of Remington UMC .38 short rim fire ammunition.
