Black Vulture by Robert Abbett in an edition of 777, this being 39. Image size 6 1/2" x 9 1/8" in Excellent condition with full margins in original folder. Original invoice to Henry Siegel present.
The Buzzard Council of America was founded in 1979 by a group of well known artist and conservationist. In just a couple of years the number of members grew to about 1,000. Each year a painting was commissioned for a stamp and the artist was chosen by becoming the loser of a flip of a coin. The Council's popularity grew to the point it was dominating some of the artist's careers and so it was abandoned after only three years.
