Item Details
Description
The AEAA is extremely proud to present this next fine piece of vintage ca. 1980-2005 Mosser Vaseline animal figurines / paperweights, from the large & diverse 30+ year collection of Mr. Loren “Butch” Morse of Yukon, Oklahoma. This fine lot represents the first of 2, stunningly gorgeous 1980s 5.5 inch tall, Grecian style Vaseline horse figures, from the original smaller Paden City Glass, 1940 Barth Art mold. Our beautifully molded horse carries a proper M in circle Mosser mark, and weighs 8 oz. and measures 2.75 x 1.5 x 5.5 inches tall. These medium Mosser horses are a great addition to any Vaseline collection. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. The origins of Mosser Glass go back more than half a century to the time when Orie Mosser was the plant manager of the Cambridge Glass Company. Son Thomas R. MosserI began working at Cambridge as a teenager, learning the trade the right way, from bottom to top. When Cambridge Glass closed in 1954, Thomas decided to continue in the glass business with a company of his own. It took five arduous years of scrimping, saving, buying glass moulds, and searching for used equipment that could be afforded. In 1959, Thomas Mosser was finally able to begin manufacturing glassware in, believe it or not, an abandoned chicken coop. Things progressed, especially considering the surroundings, and within two years, Thomas was able to leave the coop and form Variety Glass, producing glassware for the pharmaceutical industry. After a decade of success, Thomas Mosser founded the Mosser Glass Co. in 1971. Mosser employs over 30 people in an efficient manufacturing process configured to provide the highest quality glassware. The product stable includes new designs, augmented with timeless classics acquired from Viking, L.G. Wright and, Cambridge Glass. The Mosser family continues to operate the company. Thomas's wife Georgianna, helps design original pieces, and son Tim is the plant manager, while daughters Sally and Mindy oversee the office. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Mr. Loren Morse was a loving family man, and also a well-known and respected member of the Vaseline Glass collecting community. His untimely passing a year ago was a blow to everyone, and we have very humbly accepted the commission to place his treasures in good homes. The Morse family gratefully appreciates your participation in this Estate sale, and wishes you all safe & prosperous Thanksgiving + Christmas seasons.
