This lot comprises six bottles of 2007 vintage Tignanello produced by Marchesi Antinori in Tuscany.

Toscana IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) is a wine quality closely tied to its origin. It simply describes a wine whose grapes were grown in a Tuscan wine region. Since 2009, this is also labeled IGP. The term can also signify top, highly-prized Tuscan wines, similar to Vini da Tavola, if a producer wants to interpret the wine authorities’ guidelines more freely.

2007 was an exceptional vintage in Tuscany, first-class wines with high alcohol content and good acidity were made across all regions. This wine from one of the best estates in Italy will already taste wonderful now, but at least a few bottles should be kept as in a few years it will taste even better!

The 2007 vintage Tignanello was rated 95 points by Antonio Galloni in 2010. It was rated 92 points by James Suckling for Wine Spectator in the same year.

The fill levels are excellent (into neck). The labels and capsules are in perfect condition.

Antinori

The legendary Florence-based Antinori wine company is one of the biggest wine producers in Italy, with a palette ranging from simple, clean Chiantis to absolute top growths. The emergence of the Tignanello in 1971, then sold as Chianti, sparked a new era for Tuscan winegrowing. In the years that followed, the wine was mixed with up to 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, which was forbidden according to the stipulated rules for Chianti. With this, the first “Super-Tuscan” was born, sold under the modest Vino da Tavola label. Tignanello was followed by Solaia in the 1980s, in which the proportion of Sangiovese was reduced to approximately 20% and Cabernet Sauvignon was more present. The result was once again ground-breaking, joining the Sassicaia as one of the first Italian Bordeaux-style wines and achieving worldwide recognition.

In Umbria, Antinori also produced some of the best Italian white wines, including the Cervaro della Sala, a blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto.

We cannot talk about Antinori without mentioning their fantastic wines from the Tenuta Guado al Tasso estate in the Bolgheri (Tuscan coast). Both the Bordeaux cuvee Guado al Tasso (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc) and the extremely rare Matarocchio, which debuted in 2007 and is made exclusively from Cabernet Franc, should not be missing from any serious wine cellar!
