This lot comprises one bottle of 2008 vintage Grands Echézeaux produced by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from the Grands Echézeaux appellation in Burgundy.

Alongside the Close de Vougeot lies this nine-hectare Grand Cru vineyard. Pinot noir is exclusively cultivated here, as it thrives on the deep calciferous soil. Pinot noir can develop into to be especially sublime over some years, which is not least down to the first-class wine estates that manage this vineyard.

The elegance of the wines produced in this old cultivated landscape in the heart of Europe is founded on its topographic, geological and climatic disposition. The Burgundy vineyards lie at an intersection: it is where the restrained warmth of the South meets the cool crispness of the North. Due to this, the grapes can develop complexity at full maturity and still don’t lose their natural freshness. This is not only true for the white Burgundy, grown from Chardonnay, but also the red Burgundy, made from Pinot noir. What makes Burgundy an exceptional wine-growing region, however, are the small, rural configurations that have caused generations of vintners to intensively grapple with the small parcels of vine-growing land in attempts to cultivate sublime wines. This continuity over centuries is brought to fruition in all of the finest Burgundy wines.

The 2008 vintage Grands Echézeaux was rated 95 points by Antonio Ganolli in 2011. The wine was rated 93 points by Wine Spectator in 2012.

The fill level is excellent (< 2 cm). The label and capsule are in perfect condition.
