This poster was published for the exhibition ‘Toulouse-Lautrec 110 Dessins Inédits’ 1955 at Galerie Lucie Weill in Paris. The exhibition lasted from March until April and showed 110 drawings by the artist. The poster depicts a drawing of a rider on a horse, a work by Toulouse-Lautrec from 1955.



The lithograph bears the artist’s symbol lower right in the stone. The sheet is mounted along three edges with adhesive stripes under a mat and framed. The lithograph is in very good condition. The frame shows minimal traces of wear. The depiction measures 28 x 27 cm and the sheet 58 x 42 cm. The total dimensions, including the frame, are 84.5 x 64.3 cm.



Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901)

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec began his artistic education at the École des Beaux-Arts. The French painter and printmaker became famous for his posters that he created for e.g. the Parisian Varieté Moulin Rouge. Through his illness Toulouse-Lautrec spent long periods of time in treatment, where his artistic talent became evermore obvious. In his later life as a bohemian in the Parisian Montmartre, the artist visited dance halls, cafés and restaurants and chose these as his motifs. His drawings of people from the circus and his scenes from places of entertainment are world-renowned today. (tm)
