A composition, influenced by the French Informel in gestural flow in blue and green; lithographs in color fetch up to €3,000 at international auctions
This lithograph in color by the French artist Jean Miotte depicts an abstract composition of freely applied paint in light blue and green on a white background, which build an energetic whole of a rich color variety. In gestural style the colors seem to have been applied in a spontaneous way.
The work is signed lower right in pencil ‘Miotte’ and numbered lower left in pencil ‘63/90’. Verso are two small paper remains from a former mounting; besides that the print is in very good condition and the colors are fresh. The dimensions of the sheet are 65.4 x 48.3 cm.
Jean Miotte (b. 1926)
Jean Miotte is a French artist of abstract art, who was very influential for the American movement of Art Informel. His work is managed and exhibited by the Miotte Foundation in the Chelsea Art Museum in Manhattan, New York. In addition to this, works of his are part of the collections of the MoMa and the Guggenheim in New York. His works have been shown in international exhibitions since 1952.
