Description
Stoneware with underglaze-blue. Annam (Vietnam), approx. 15th cent.
This small lidded vessel possibly comes from a ship wreck find as seen from some traces. Such finds were mainly discovered in the coastal regions between Annam and Indonesia, Borneo and the Philppines. The very well preserved bowl is painted with easy strokes in underglaze blue and presents floral and geometric patterns. The flat cover offers a six-lobed blossom and foliage. Unusually in very good condition.
Note: The early ceramic from Annam (Vietnam) counts among the best of its kind all over South Eastern Asia. The ceramic shows Chinese inflluence and was frequently exported.
HEIGHT 5,1 CM, DIAMETER 7,7 CM
