Description
Lacquerware with gold and silver; wood and bone. Japan, 19th cent.
Four levelled inro, rendered throughout in maki-e (sprinkled lacquer) with a large landscape. Mountain ranges, waterfall and lake, wide spanning bridge, pine trees, huts and two finely painted raftsmen. Takamaki-e with golden Fundame as well as gold Kirigane. On the underside and inside, golden nashiji. Minor faults in the kirigane, wear.
Netsuke and Ojime: resting, sitting farmer with his large straw hat, which he is holding in front. Wood with patina, the himotoshi on the bottom. The spherical ojime (chord fastener) made of bone and rendered in openwork, shows a pine forest and hut.
