(a bundle) Craig first had the idea of forming a school of the theatre as early as 1903 but, despite drawing up a prospectus in 1904 and renting the Arena Goldoni, a disused early 19th century theatre in Florence, as a location, he did not manage to raise the funds to open it until 1913. His aim was to teach sound, light and movement and the list of those on the "Honorary International Committee" on the prospectus includes distinguished theatrical names from all over Europe: Ellen Terry, W.B.Yeats, Count Harry Kessler, Constantin Stanislawsky, Sarah Bernhardt and Jacques Rouché amongst numerous others.
