Gilt Brass & Porcelain Throne Novelty Clock. Beautiful gilt brass case in the form of a chair with fancy crest, engraved & pierced decorated design; in the seat is a porcelain painted inset with a scene of a man playing bag pipes for a woman, porcelain is signed “S. Baker Samson China”. The seat back has a 1.5 in. porcelain dial with open center with a rotating disc sub seconds dial, brass & jeweled hands; has a spring driven pocket watch type movement with balance wheel lever escapement exposed through the center of the dial and in the back of the chair. Movement plates have remnants of the makers mark with reads “J.S. Ma., Baltimore, MD”, case is in excellent condition and movement is running, under a miniature glass dome on a wood base. Chair measures 4.75 in. high, dome measures 9.5 in. high.
