Coco assis (Claude Renoir), 1904, a study for two paintings titled Coco en g'andourah arabe. one is held by the Barnes Foundation (BF935) and titled Claude Renoir, for the other see: l'Atelier de Renoir Bernheim-Jeune Editeur, Paris 1931, pl.87, no.282., unsigned, pencil and red chalk on tracing paper, 21 x 18-1/4 in.; carved and gilt wood frame, lined with canvas and stretched on a stretcher, repaired tear in lower left approximately 2-1/2 in., 4 in. complex vertical tear at bottom center; some former creasing, complex tear at top with related retouch; frame with abrasions and minor losses.. Notes: This lot has been authenticated by Francois Daulte and is accompanied by the photo certificate. He states in French that it will be reproduced and catalogued in the sixth volume of his Catalogue Raisonne de L'Oeuvre de Renoir, the section titled Pastels, Aquarelles et Dessins, to be published by Editions Durand-Ruel, Lausanne. This volume was not published before Daulte's death in 1988.. Provenance: Galerie Charpentier, Paris, June 10, 1958, no.220; Sotheby's, New York, lot #215
