Description
Paul Klee [after] (Swiss/German, 1879 - 1940). "Arabian City ["Arabische Stadt"]". Original color photochrom. 1922. Printed 1946. Titled and dated in the image, lower center. Felix Paul Klee stamp, verso. Small edition. Heavy cream wove paper. Printed to the edge of the sheet. Fine impression. Bright, fresh colors. Fine condition. Provenance: Acquired directly from Felix Paul Klee. The photochrom (sic) process is properly considered a variant of chromolithography, producing very high quality color prints. Seldom used after World War I, the last photochom printer ceased operations in 1970. This edition was authorized by Klee shortly before his death in 1940 but delayed by World War II until 1946.
