Description
Mexican Maskmaker, [20th Century]. "Mexican Mask [Traditional - 0181]. A Carnival mask, Carpinteros, State of Hidalgo [Mexico] mask from the Holy Week celebration, San Bartolo de los Baños, State of Guanajuato [Mexico]". Hand-carved, hand-painted polychromed natural hardwood sculpture. 1960s. A "danced" mask. Not made for the tourist trade or for sale, but created by the indigenous person to be used only in a ceremonial dance. Overall condition good.
